The UNSW Alumni Awards program is an exciting opportunity for the wider UNSW community to discover, honour and celebrate the incredible achievements of our most exceptional alumni.

Nominees in all categories must demonstrate outstanding achievements that have earned them regional, national or international prominence. They may be entrepreneurs and innovators, or may have made outstanding contributions to the community in their civic, cultural or charitable involvement. Nominees must demonstrate exceptional talent through their endeavours, and should be striving to change the world around them and improving the lives of others.

Who is eligible?

Any UNSW graduate is eligible to be nominated. Posthumous nominations are accepted. A UNSW graduate may not nominate themselves. Current UNSW staff (even if alumni) are not eligible for nomination. Young Alumni nominees must be aged 35 years or younger. Only third year students or above are eligible to be nominated for the Student Volunteer Award. 


How are winners selected?

A committee, comprising representatives of the UNSW alumni community, will review all nominations and make recommendations to the President and Vice-Chancellor, and the Chancellor.

Awards presentation

The awards are presented at the annual Alumni Awards Dinner hosted by the President and Vice-Chancellor, and Chancellor, on behalf of UNSW.

The history of UNSW Alumni Awards

UNSW Alumni Awards were first introduced in 1972. To date there have been 199 Alumni Awards awarded, including 2003 Business and Commerce category award winner, Mr David Gonski AC BCom’76, LLB’77.
