The top 4 spots to get your perfect graduation photo!
After years of studying, graduation is finally here! Congratulations on this incredible achievement whether this is your first degree or the result of further study – you did it!
Your graduation day will be one of excitement, heightened emotions, pride and plenty of happy snaps with your loved ones. These photos will likely take up a prized position on the family mantelpiece or make a splash on social media. Whatever your preferred photo platform, we’ve rounded up the top 4 spots on campus to get the perfect shot.
1. The library lawn
The UNSW library lawn has many different options and angles to work. Try a dynamic hat toss in front of the library, in front of the black UNSW plaque, or perhaps in front of the lawn ‘clock’ – the circular sculpture which once doubled as a clock, and today is a recognisable fixture of the Kensington campus. The sculpture perfectly frames the UNSW library in the background.
2. The 2018 graduation plaque
The plaque is positioned on the outside wall of the Clancy Auditorium (the building the graduation ceremony takes place in), opposite the Pavillions where you pick up your grad gear. This hot spot usually attracts a line of keen photographers, but it is well worth the wait for that perfect snap!
3. Clancy the UNSW lion
Keep your eyes peeled for Clancy the lion, the beloved UNSW mascot, who will be roaming around campus to celebrate your graduation day. He loves the camera and a cuddle, so don’t be shy!
4. The main walkway
You can't go past the iconic UNSW walkway for some stellar lighting and ambience - during the day and night! Bonus points if you manage the capture a dreamy sunset in the background, the pièce de résistance of all great instagram shots.
So you’re all set, grads! Enjoy this momentous occasion and remember to tag your pics with #UNSWalumni to be featured on our channels.
