Game on! A photographic history of UNSW's sporting talent

Though the official name and format of Australia’s national intervarsity sport programs has been an evolving dynamic, UNSW’s stellar sporting community has long been a keen participant in these competitions. From 2018, what has been known as the Australian University Games (or simply “Uni Games”) since 1993 will now be known as Unisport Nationals – and UNSW has had a ripper of a year, with success across a wide range of sports [Link to Nationals wrap-up]. Before this, inter-university sports were simply known as Intervarsity competitions which, like most traditional sporting events, were hosted by different participating capital cities across Australia.

In celebration of the abundance of sporting talent that our University has attracted over the years, we’ve shared some classic shots from our archives of fantastic teams and individuals who have represented UNSW in a whole range of intervarsity sports across Australia, including tennis, rugby, skiing, rowing, and many more.
